GIOP Networking and Poster Presentation Event -- Bringing Hawaii/SIOP to You!

Unable to attend the SIOP Annual Conference in Hawaii this year? Well, GIOP is bringing some of the conference – and Hawaii – to you!

Please join us for the GIOP Networking and Poster Presentation Event.

 Date:  April 24, 2014

NEW LOCATION:  Maryville University (President’s Conference Center in Gander Hall)

Time:  4:30 pm to 7:00 pm

A number of students and faculty members from SIU-E, SLU, and UMSL have agreed to share with GIOP their poster presentations, most of which are scheduled to be shown this May at SIOP’s Annual Conference in Hawaii. We expect to have 24 posters on display. Here are just a few of the presentations you’ll get a chance to see in St. Louis:

• To Scare or to Care: Different Warnings Against Applicant Faking

• An Examination of Social Support Desired and Received at Work
• Can You Be Happy for Me? How Listening to Others’ Positive Events May Provide Intrapersonal and Interpersonal Benefits

So, besides being able to engage in conversation with colleagues who share your interest in the field of I-O psychology, you’ll hopefully be able to learn something new and broaden your knowledge-base.  There will also be beer, wine, soft drinks and appetizers for your enjoyment. And if you’d like to get in the spirit of things, feel free to dress in your favorite Hawaiian shirt! (Flip-flops are also welcome!)

This event is free for members and $20 for non-members. 

For those not familiar with the Maryville University campus, it is located in Chesterfield on the North side of I-64 (Hwy 40) between Maryville Center Drive and Woods Mill (Route 141). You can get there from the East by exiting I-64 at Maryville Center Drive, or from the West at Woods Mill. The event will be held in the President’s Conference Center located in Gander Hall (#25 on the Maryville University map).
