In 2014 Aon Hewitt’s Top Companies for Leaders study evaluated and recognized organizations from around the world that have what it takes to execute best-in-class leadership and talent management. This study focuses on the top five characteristics that give these Top Companies the edge and help lead to great organizational performance. The five characters make up the DNA of top companies are: Assessment, Self Awareness, Engaging Leaders, Resilience and Sustainability.  Jim Donahue will discuss how this research is conducted, its findings and implications for leadership development within organizations.

Jim is a Principal in Aon Hewitt’s Talent and Organization Consulting Practice based in their Minneapolis office. He has 20 years of consulting experience in all aspects of organization and workforce strategies and design, mergers and acquisitions, leadership, and employee engagement. He also serves as North American Leader for Aon Hewitt’s Leadership and Human Capital Consulting Practice. Prior to joining Aon Hewitt, Jim was a senior manager at a global management consulting firm where he focused on organization design, talent management, and
HR technology.

Jim’s current consulting activities with clients focus on linking People strategies to corporate/business strategies, leadership development strategies, mergers and acquisitions, and design/implementation of employee engagement interventions. Jim has worked with numerous organizations on leadership issues ranging from developing leadership/talent management strategies and designing succession planning solutions to assessing and coaching executives and Board of Directors to enhance their effectiveness.

Jim earned a B.A. in economics and religion from St. Olaf College and an M.M. (M.B.A.) degree from the J. L. Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University. In addition, he has completed additional graduate work towards a doctoral degree.
