Event Information: This talk explores Dr. Foster’s ongoing work on how we define and measure job performance, or what we often call the “criterion problem” in I-O Psychology. He’ll introduce a Role-Based Approach to job analysis and performance measurement, which starts from the idea that there isn’t one single “true” measure of performance. Instead, he’ll argue that performance ratings reflect coworkers’ subjective views of how well someone fits the expectations, demands, and context of their role. He will also discuss practical techniques for collecting and interpreting performance ratings that align with this perspective.
